Sustainability
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established by the United Nations, form a universal roadmap to build a fair, inclusive, and resilient future for both people and the planet. These goals include concrete actions ranging from ending poverty to ensuring clean energy, from quality education to climate action.
Since 2015, millions of companies, public institutions, and civil society organizations around the world have been working to contribute to these goals. The SDGs not only address global challenges but also create opportunities for sustainable growth, competitiveness, and stakeholder trust. Today, one of the most critical agendas for businesses is aligning their operations with the SDGs to build a more inclusive and sustainable future.
At Brisa, we structure our sustainability strategy around three main dimensions: Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy, Social and Cultural Transformation, and Transition to a Low-Touch Economy. This approach is directly aligned with the United Nations’ SDGs, enabling us to drive a transformation that encompasses not only our operations but our entire value chain.
We view combating climate change (13.3) as one of our top priorities. We have committed to reducing our carbon emissions by 56% by 2030 compared to 2020 levels. By being listed in the CDP Climate Leaders Index, we demonstrate transparency and strong performance in our climate reporting.
We place energy transition at the core of our strategy. With our 4.5 MW solar power plant (SPP) investment at the Aksaray factory (7.2), we meet 16% of our electricity needs from solar energy. We support these efforts with energy efficiency projects (7.3), accelerating our transition to a low-carbon economy.
At our İzmit factory, we have reduced groundwater consumption by 80% since 2008 (6.4) through effective water and wastewater management, rainwater harvesting, and greywater reuse. In addition, through waste management practices (12.5) and transparent sustainability reporting (12.6), we protect resources while promoting responsible water use in industry. We are also listed in the CDP Water Security Leaders Index.
DThrough our circular economy approach, we embrace the “take–make–use–reuse–recycle” model (12.2). We have increased material circularity to 40% and reduced single-use plastics by 80%. Our environmental policy (12.2) and responsible procurement practices (12.6) support transformation across our entire value chain. Furthermore, our waste management projects (12.5) contribute to more efficient use of natural resources. We are recognized in the CDP Supplier Engagement Leaders Index for our efforts.
With a strong focus on industry and innovation, we develop smart mobility solutions (9.1) and eco-friendly products (12.4). Through digitalization practices (9.A), we enhance sustainable industrial infrastructure and contribute to the development of our production capacity.
Protecting biodiversity is among our strategic priorities. Through reforestation efforts (15.2), we strengthen natural habitats, while our biodiversity risk and opportunity analyses (15.1, 15.5) allow us to regularly measure our impact on ecosystems. By ensuring compliance of our products with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), we minimize the environmental impact of our supply chain.
We put people at the center of everything we do and prioritize enhancing our social impact. Through Brisa Academy (4.4) and young talent programs, we support the development of our employees and business partners, strengthening a culture of continuous learning.
With our “Heroes of Customer and Service” programs (5.1–5.5) and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies, we promote gender equality and ensure equal opportunities for all.
Our human resources policies (8.5) and occupational health and safety practices (8.8) provide decent working environments. Additionally, through our Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (8.2) and UN Global Compact membership (8.7), we foster a comprehensive social transformation that encompasses both our employees and business partners.
We manage our business processes with a strong commitment to ethical governance and transparency. Our corporate governance practices (16.5), combined with anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies, create a responsible business culture. As a signatory of the UN Global Compact (8.7, 16.3), we actively contribute to international collaboration and good governance.
