Brisa was originally established by the Sabancύ Group , the leading industrial conglomerate in Turkey , under the licence agreement signed with American BF Goodrich Company in 1974. The Company, a 100% Turkish investment, was named Lassa Tire Manufacturing and Trading Inc. at that time. The production started in 1977 at the factory with a covered area of 90.000 m2 and the sales were extended to 60 provinces in Turkey through 186 organized dealers . Until 1988, the Company produced tires under the Lassa brand, expanding its product range from tires for passenger cars, trucks and buses to farm and off-the-road vehicles.

In response to the developments in the world tire industry, a joint venture agreement was signed between the Bridgestone Corporation of Japan , one the world's largest manufacturers of tires and the Sabancύ Group , on November 1st, 1988, each party holding an equal share in the new Company. As a result of this agreement, the Company name was changed to BRISA Bridgestone Sabanci Tire Manufacturing and Trading Inc . On July 1st, 1989, the groundbreaking for the new plant was completed, and finally, on November 1st, 1990 mass production of tires started at the new plant, which was installed within a covered area of 196.000 m2 and equipped with the state-of-the-art technology.

For Brisa , the new plant also symbolized a new concept of management, production and quality which has been as important as the advanced technology and the new machinery. Following the radialisation investment in 1997. Brisa factory now stretches over 260.000 m2 of covered area.

Today Brisa is the number one tire manufacturer in Turkey and the sixth biggest tire producer in Europe . Brisa has an internationally recognized record of achievements in Total Quality Management - TQM , targeting total customer satisfaction, and continues to build its future on business excellence.

Production and Products
Brisa has one of the world's largest tire production facilities under a single location where over four hundred different types of tires are produced. Brisa, utilizing the world-leading Bridgestone technology in tire industry, consistently increases its product range to maintain and reinforce its competitive position at both domestic and international markets.

Within the annual export sales summing up to USD 100 million, Lassa tires produced by Brisa are marketed in 33 countries worldwide, primarily in Europe where 2700 sale points are in service of Lassa customers. Brisa, at the same time, produces and exports Bridgestone branded tires to fulfill the demand from Europe and Middle East. Celebrating its 30th year in tire industry in 2004, Brisa is the leader of domestic replacement market, serving through 400 Lassa and 150 Bridgestone dealers nationwide.

2003-2008 Investment Programs
Under the influence of economic growth and expanding potentials, the increasing production in local automotive industry through globalization that calls for ever-growing demand for tires in Turkey as well as growing needs of Bridgestone, the partner of Brisa, in Europe and the business development plans for Lassa brand in selected markets abroad, a decision of USD 168 million investment was taken
